Three runners to note at Dundalk and Wolverhampton tonight
The wet weather might continue to ravage the turf programme, but the all-weather keeps rolling on and there is a double helping on offer from Dundalk and Wolverhampton tonight. Here are three runners it could be worth keeping an eye on.
Guineas possible Alghabrah could be the star turn on Dundalk's card, but this maiden contains some interesting types, including Fozzy Stack's runner Wishing Star.
Third on debut, this daughter of Galileo shaped promisingly, and the form has worked out well, with winner I Can Fly third in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes, while the fifth, Baroness, went on to be runner-up in the Listed Montrose Stakes.
If Wishing Star is ready to go on her first start of the year, she could take a nice step forward.
As a juvenile, Ferik could not have done much more to break his maiden, finishing runner-up on his last three starts.
Those defeats were all by small margins, and he now starts off for Eve Johnson Houghton having been with David Evans last season.
As a half-brother to Wigmore Hall, any extra distance should benefit Ferik, and last season he raced up to a mile, but has an extra half-furlong tonight, competing over 1m½f.
7.15 Wolverhampton
Richard Strauss
An overall record of one win from 20 starts suggests Richard Strauss is not the most prolific of performers, but that victory was achieved on the all-weather at Dundalk and he has his first start on a synthetic surface for Phil Kirby here.
Formerly with Joseph O'Brien, the four-year-old has a good overall all-weather record, and having had a couple of respectable outings for Kirby, the change in surface could bring about more improvement.
