Two horses who could relish the easing ground at the Curragh

After a wet morning at the Curragh caused the going to ease to soft in places having been good to firm, we pick out two runners on Saturday afternoon whose chances may have been bolstered.

Willie McCreery is another trainer who made no secret of his yearning for a soaking on Saturday morning and so optimism must be on the rise, especially with Acapulco now out of the way too. All three of his wins last year came on ground that was at least yielding and he scored in heavy conditions in a Listed contest at Cork last month.

Churchill should not be troubled by some give underfoot based on what we saw of him last year but if any of his rivals could be aided in their pursuit of him it might be Godolphin's Thunder Snow. He won the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud on soft ground last autumn and his half-sisters Always Smile, Ihtimal and First Victory all boast form of some description in softer conditions.
