Three horses it could pay to follow on tonight's cards
There are three evening meetings following on from the top-class action at York, with Killarney (4.30 start on ATR) staging a mixed card, the jumpers take centre stage at Fontwell (4.45, ATR) while there is Flat action at Hamilton (5.10, RUK). Here we pick out three runners to watch
Distant Past
6.10 Hamilton
The six-year-old has gone well fresh in the past and returns from a short break with the Kevin Ryan stable in good form. He drops down in class carrying top weight and the burden is offset somewhat by the booking of promising apprentice Seamus Cronin.
Max Dynamite
6.30 Killarney
There is a real treat in store for racegoers at Killarney as the 2015 Melbourne Cup runner-up returns to the Flat in the 2m1f contest. A well-backed favourite for the Galway Hurdle last time, the Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old will be looking to get back to winning ways before tackling loftier targets in the autumn. He is a short price – and he has faces stern opposition in Sandymount Duke and Silver Concorde – but he should get the job done.
Royal Battalion
7.20 Fontwell
The Gary Moore-trained six-year-old has been working his way back to form, most recently running on to finish second at the course in June. A winner of this race last year off a 5lb higher mark, there is no doubt he is a well-handicapped horse and he looks set to go close as he bids for a third success at the track.
