Three eyecatching runners to note under lights at Kempton tonight
Kempton's eight-race card this evening, which will be broadcast on RUK, kicks off at 5.45 and here are three horses worth following.
India
7.15 Kempton
A half-sister to popular stayer Big Orange, India ought to benefit from the step up to 11 furlongs and can improve markedly on the modest level of form she has produced in her first two starts.
Despite only finishing sixth here on her most recent start in October, India shaped with a deal of promise, making smooth headway before fading in the final furlong, and she can build on that on her return having been given time to strengthen.
Spare Parts
7.45 Kempton
Having started the year off a mark of just 49, Spare Parts has climbed the handicapper ladder, winning six times and going up by over two stone in the ratings.
Recent efforts suggest that he is likely to remain competitive and this 7f trip is more suitable than the mile, over which he was beaten at Chelmsford last time.
Victory for Spare Parts would give him the advantage over Captain Lars in the battle to be the winningmost horse on the all-weather this winter, which carries a £10,000 prize.
Three Colours Red
9.15 Kempton
Three Colours Red found only the well-handicapped subsequent winner Cliffs Of Dover too good on his return to action at Lingfield earlier this month and should launch another bold bid.
It could be significant that Robert Stephens' six-year-old won at a big price on his previous all-weather outing – suggesting he is very effective on a synthetic surface.
This race is a much weaker contest than the one Three Colours Red contested last time and he ought to go close if running to a similar level.
