The ones to watch: three horses to follow tonight
The action this evening comes from Brighton and Uttoxeter in Britain, with Roscommon also staging a jumps fixture in Ireland, having hosted a Flat fixture on Monday. Here are three horses it could pay to follow this evening.
It is almost certainly fair to say that Jazirat, a 220,000gns brother to Group 2 winner Birchwood, has not been the most straightforward character, having already been gelded as well as being fitted with a hood on debut at Leicester last month.
Nonetheless, he showed enough promise that day to suggest that if he had learned from the experience, he ought to be winning before long.
It would be no surprise to see One Big Surprise get her head in front this evening back at a venue she has shown a liking for. Brighton presents an unusual test for horses but the Richard Hughes-trained five-year-old boasts form figures of 22314 at the south coast course.
With some of the more intriguing runners having been scratched, few others in the remaining field make appeal and it is hard to get away from One Big Surprise, especially given the step back up in trip.
Jonjo O'Neill's Terry The Fish is giving weight away all round tonight but it is hard to escape the feeling that he is a stayer on the up and he is chosen to complete a hat-trick of wins.
His leading market rival, Lime Street, looks to have been treated harshly enough for what was a narrow win last time, while the likes of Dawn Missile and Gran Maestro have stamina questions to answer. Terry The Fish, meanwhile, looks rock solid. He defied a 7lb rise last time and this 14lb may not yet be enough to stop him.
