The Lowdown: going updates, racecards, news and tips for today's racing
Today's news
- BACK ON TRACK: Paul Nicholls believes a back-to-form Frodon is only going to get better and the manner of his victory at Kempton makes the Ryanair Chase the "obvious route" for Cheltenham, although the option of running the ultra-tough chaser in the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup remains open.
- ON AND OFF: There was mixed news on the inspection front on Monday morning with Lingfield's jumps meeting getting the go-ahead but Punchestown cancelling on safety grounds.
- FESTIVAL CLAIMS: Carefully Selected was shortened into favouritism for the National Hunt Chase, which trainer Willie Mullins thinks will be "right up his street" after a comfortable victory in the Killiney Novice Chase at Punchestown.
- LUCKY ESCAPE: The aptly named racehorse Firefree escaped the bushfires across Victoria last week after being moved to a local stadium in the town of Gippsland.
