• END OF THE ROAD: Any hopes that racing might return to Towcester have been extinguished with the news that the owners of the course have sold its ten fixtures for next year to Arena Racing Company (Arc) for an undisclosed sum.
  
  
• NEW OPERATOR: Cheers went up as Chester Race Company was announced as the preferred bidder to take over the running of Musselburgh racecourse on Tuesday afternoon. The news meant that neither Arena Racing Company (Arc) or Jockey Club Racecourses won the battle to take over a track that has been proudly independent during its 203-year history.

• IT'S ON: Racing at Nottingham goes ahead today after the course passed a precautionary inspection held this morning.
