The Lowdown: going updates, racecards and news for today's racing
Today's news
- OPENING UP: Former jockey Kevin Tobin has spoken about his battle with depression and called for an end to the reluctance to speak openly about suicide.
- EXCITEMENT BUILDING: Navan manager Peter Killeen is full of confidence that Storm Dennis will not claim Sunday's anticipated card, which features the return of dual Grand National hero Tiger Roll.
- PROPOSAL DITCHED: An idea to switch the Dublin Racing Festival to Friday and Saturday has been dismissed after Horse Racing Ireland revealed Leopardstown's two-day showpiece will again take place on a Saturday and Sunday next year.
- WEATHER WOE: Sandown's jumps fixture today has been cancelled due to a waterlogged track. Fakenham has the only surviving jumps card on Friday, although it is supplemented by two meetings on the all-weather in Britain at Lingfield and Southwell. Dundalk stages an all-weather evening fixture in Ireland.
