The Lowdown: going, non-runners and all the news as all eyes turn to Wincanton
Today's news
- BEERS ON BRYONY: Bryony Frost and Present Man ready themselves for a historic hat-trick in the Badger Beers Silver Trophy. Trainer Paul Nicholls is also eyeing history, as he goes in search of a tenth win in Wincanton's Listed handicap chase.
- HIGH HOPES: Lostintranslation's jockey Robbie Power believes the seven-year-old has what it takes to right to the top of the pile in the staying chase division this season. Power says he would be surprised to see the Colin Tizzard-trained chaser beaten in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 23.
- BAN UPHELD: Irish jockey Robbie Downey's appeal against a six-month suspension for a positive test for a metabolite of cocaine has failed, but PJA chief executive Paul Struthers has taken the unprecedented step of asking the BHA not to reciprocate the penalty owing to concerns over a possible "miscarriage of justice".
- UNDER FIRE: Danny Brock, the jockey banned for seven days for marking a horse with a modified whip, has said that he fears his career may be over owing to the furore. Brock says he has received threatening messages on social media and believes public perception will prevent him from picking up rides in the future.
