Finally, a proper Irish summer. There has not been one since 2019, but the good old days are new again at last.
The definition of a proper Irish summer has nothing to do with the weather, it is seven sacred days of racing when people pack their bags and head west for pure, unadulterated craic. Ladies and gentleman, welcome back to Galway.
The Galway summer festival took place in 2020 and 2021, but in name only. Not in nature. The show was kept on the road but it was not the show we all know and love. The pandemic deprived us of any craic so we had to make do with racing instead. And you don't need me to tell you the banquet at Ballybrit is about so much more than racing.
