'The bet of the day' - which big Saturday runner do two of our panel agree on?
It's Sprint Cup day at Haydock. Who wins the big one?
Paudie Hassett, BoyleSportsNaval Crown looks the one to beat. He was possibly below his best at Deauville but his Royal Ascot and Newmarket runs stand out. A reproduction of either of those might be good enough.
Alice Haynes, trainer Until recently results have pointed towards a three-year-old winning this on slow ground, but the five-year-old Emaraaty Ana won on good to firm last year and his run in the Nunthorpe wasn't that far off the level of his prep in the same race last year. However, Naval Crown had been a revelation this year until just being a bit keen in France and I think he can reverse that form with Minzaal.
Leonna Mayor, broadcaster I tipped Rohaan at 66-1 to win the Sandy Lane at Haydock last year, so with conditions to suit again he’s surely the bet. He doesn’t get on with York, so I'm happy to ignore his latest run, and he did best of the hold-up horses in the Prix Maurice de Gheest. There's plenty of pace on here and that'll suit his style.
