Robbed of Buzz but racing fans are spoiled for choice on a day to savour

Racing is one of those sports that thrives on uncertainty, and in Saturday's feature Howden Long Walk Hurdle (2.25) there are questions in abundance to be posed about virtually ever runner.

Here we have a Grade 1 level-weights race where a case can be made for just about every contender, a scenario often reserved for big-field handicaps.

The late absence of ante-post favourite Buzz is an awful twist of fate for the Nicky Henderson team and all at Thurloe Thoroughbreds, one that is particularly cruel given his syndicate owners have been campaigning him in aid of specialist cancer hospital the Royal Marsden.
