Solstice Star 'the one to beat' in Lingfield feature says Keighley

Martin Keighley reckons his topweight Solstice Star is the one to beat in the £20,000 Donncha Murphy Is Available Intermediate Handicap Chase (3.00), the feature event at Lingfield on Tuesday.

Keighley said: "He had a few issues last season which have been sorted out. He's really taken to fences this time and was just beaten by one off a low weight at Carlisle last time, but he jumped well and travelled great.

"The course will suit him as he's won twice there and the softer the ground the better for him. It's a nice place to run a chaser and he looks the one to beat."

Any further rain will also suit Chef D'Oeuvre who also ran at Carlisle first time out this season, but was well beaten in an open handicap.

Trainer Warren Greatrex said: "He'll come on for his first race at Carlisle, he always needs a race, last season he ran deplorably on his first run back. He'll love the soft ground and it's the ideal race for him."

Another interesting contender is Full Irish from the Emma Lavelle yard. He is having only his second run over fences having faced a tough task on his first against Ozzie The Oscar at Warwick. That was over two miles and he steps up nearly a mile in trip this time.

Hinds hoping for a good day at Lingfield

Four of the six races at Lingfield are sponsored by Stonegate Homes, one of whose directors, Jeremy Hinds, is a member of the Galloping On The South Downs Partnership who have two runners on the card, It's Got Legs in the bumper (1.00) and Larry in the novice hurdle (1.30)

Both are in the care of Gary Moore, who also trains the group's star chaser Traffic Fluide, who ran in Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Hinds said: "The partnership is myself and two friends and I'm hoping that our runners will go well. It's Got Legs was a good second at Fontwell first time. Unfortunately Larry got rid of his jockey early on last time, but he won a bumper last season and ran quite well on his first outing over hurdles.

"We named the main race after Donncha Murphy who is one of our employees and is looking for a girlfriend so we thought we would let the racing world know that he's available.

"We asked for another race to be named Jamie Moore Has Fabulous Hair but they wouldn't allow us to have that one."

Tallow has bright chance at Southwell

There are eight races on the all-weather card at Southwell where the novice stakes over 7f has been split. The stronger of the two divisions looks to be the first (1.40) as it features runners trained by William Haggas, Andrew Balding, Hughie Morrison, Richard Hannon and George Scott.

The one they have to beat is the Haggas-trained Tallow, who was bought by Cheveley Park for 100,000 euros as a yearling. A daughter of Kodiac who is a half-sister to three winners, she improved on her debut run to win a 6f maiden on soft ground at Doncaster's final turf meeting earlier this month.

She makes her all-weather debut and steps up to seven furlongs for the first time with her main threat appearing to be the Balding-trained Consultant, who is also by Kodiac.

Jack bids for four-timer at Sedgefield

Barrys Jack from the Brian Ellison yard bids for a four-timer in the novice limited handicap chase (2.20) at Sedgefield. His last two wins have been over hurdles but he is unbeaten over fences having won a novice handicap chase on heavy ground at Perth on his chasing debut in September.
