THE last time Pat Smullen sat on Sole Power was August 2010 in a Listed contest at Tipperary. He only beat two home.

A fortnight later he was winning the Nunthorpe at York at 100-1 and has added four more Group 1s to his glittering CV. This will be the 59th start of his career and Smullen is thrilled to get another go on board the speedy veteran, who got no sort of luck last time in the July Cup when the gaps failed to open for Chris Hayes.
