There are classier races staged during this wonderful week, a handful that are more valuable and also some that were more eagerly anticipated, but the one that brings it all together, through name, history and public popularity, is the one that highlights the last hurrah.

This is still Ebor week and now it is Ebor day. The fine old prize that remains the symbolic flagship for this great celebration of Flat racing, not to mention its host city and county, is our final focus of attention at a meeting that has already delivered as handsomely as it always does.
