'She looks the class act' - our panel deliver their big-race verdicts
It’s Scottish Grand National day at Ayr. Who wins the big one?
Phill Anderson, Spotlight writer Alan King is in form and the lightly raced Major Dundee might be the one. He has looked progressive in three starts over fences, winning his first two before a narrow defeat at Newbury last month when losing momentum at a crucial stage. The third has won since and, while Major Dundee's stamina is unproven, he has stayed on well on both starts at three miles this term.
Jamie Hart, ToteWin My Wings is up 8lb for her Eider win but Rob James’s 7lb claim offsets the majority of that rise. Drying ground is in her favour and she looks the class act. For the Trifecta, Stormy Judge looks like the perfect Irish plot and Alan King’s Major Dundee can follow them home.
Jack Haynes, reporter The Ferry Master ran a fantastic race in this last year when fourth on his fifth chase start, and off a 5lb lower mark he has to go close. He’ll be spot on for this after his first start since a second wind operation at Newcastle, where he equalled his Scottish National RPR, and on better ground he can post a big career-best.
