Racing gets back on track with spectators readmitted and plenty of those returning to Lingfield for the first time since the spring will be looking to this aptly named three-year-old to get them off to a winning start in the opener.

The grey has much more than his name to recommend him as he looked a horse on the up when he came from behind to win over this trip at Wolverhampton last month.

He is only 2lb higher in the handicap and Mark Usher is confident there is more still to come from him.

The trainer, who has won with two of his last three runners, said: "He's a big horse who's strengthening up a bit and is improving all the time.

"It's quite a big field but I'm very hopeful."

Betway Handicap | 1m2f | Sky

The richest Flat race of the afternoon is a £19,000 handicap in which Make It Rain bids to maintain her unbeaten record on the all-weather.

The progressive filly, a winner at Kempton last year, has added victories at Wolverhampton and here this autumn.

She did well to overcome a wide draw when securing that latest success but joint trainer Simon Crisford warned: "She's in good form but this will be a lot tougher for her.

"The margins are tight, she's up in class and she's going to be vulnerable."

Midnights' Gift
Shropshire Mind Mares' Handicap Hurdle | 2m | RTV

Giveaway Glance took this quite valuable mares' hurdle for owner-breeders Pitchall Stud when it was last run in 2018 and her younger half-sister attempts to keep it in the family two years on.

Midnights' Gift was a fine third in a Listed race at Wetherby in October and took advantage of a return to handicap company when winning comfortably at Fakenham last month.

Trainer Alan King has had this contest in mind ever since and said: "While this may be a tougher race, it's a good prize and I like to support racecourses who put up decent prize-money.

"She won well at Fakenham and though she's gone up 3lb in the weights she seems in good order and is adaptable enough to handle this course."

Adrimel
Listen To Weighed-In On Betfair 'Introductory' Hurdle | 1m7½f | RTV

Tom Lacey is hoping to make a pre-emptive strike on Merseyside, three days before Kimberlite Candy bids to improve on last year's second place in the Becher Chase 15 miles away at Aintree.

He also has big-race aspirations for Adrimel, citing the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle as a likely target for the five-year-old in his Racing Post Weekender Stable Tour.

The dual bumper winner looked a horse going places when scoring comfortably on his hurdling debut at Sandown last month and bids to book a trip to Newbury by seeing off two other first-time-out winners in this £15,000 introductory event.

Seeyouatmidnight
My Odds Boost On Betfair Veterans' Handicap Chase | 3m1½f | RTV

Can Sandy Thomson do it again? Four days after conjuring a 66-1 win out of Yorkhill, he returns fellow old-timer Seeyouatmidnight to action.

But the trainer warned that the 12-year-old, who came back from near-retirement last season and won a veterans' chase at Carlisle, is not as forward as his stablemate, who had the benefit of a prep run before landing the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle last Saturday.

Seeyouatmidnight has his first race since that March win in another veterans' event and Thomson said: "He's in grand shape but he'll come on for the run. You can't batter these old horses at home.

"He wasn't as forward as the other horse when he had a gallop at Carlisle. This is an ideal race to start as there aren't many opportunities for 140-rated chasers."

Lady Buttons Memorial Beginners' Chase | 3m | RTV

Trevor Hemmings kept several good horses when he cut back his string earlier this year, as Cloth Cap proved when landing the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase in the familiar yellow, green and white last Saturday.

But the owner also let plenty of potential stars go, including Stoney Mountain, who was bought for £140,000 by Anita Gillies at the dispersal sale in December.

We will get an early idea of who got the better of that deal when the seven-year-old, winner of a £100,000 Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Haydock last autumn, makes his debut for Jamie Snowden in the beginners' chase here.

He unseated his rider on his only previous run over fences but "has done lots of jumping here" according to his new trainer who anticipates: "He'll be a proper staying chaser."

Sinjaari
Unibet Wild Flower Stakes (Listed Race) | 1m4f | RTV

A year that began with William Haggas and Tom Marquand teaming up for big-race success in Australia approaches its end with them bidding to repeat the feat in Middlesex.

Sinjaari is no Addeybb, at least not yet, but like the Champion Stakes winner he has graduated from handicaps and promises to make his mark at a higher level.

He won the John Smith's Cup at York in July and steps up in trip as he bids to improve on last month's second over 1m2f on his Listed debut at Lingfield.

Haggas, who won this race with Pablo Escobarr last year, said: "We are trying him over a mile and a half again, as knowing whether or not he gets the trip will help with plans for next year.

"When he runs over ten furlongs, he shapes as if he will get a bit further, and Tom feels he will as well, so we will see. I think he will be okay."
