Ryan's reliable veterans Place and Kylecrue tackle valuable Galway feature

Draycott Place and Kylecrue have won 17 races between them for their owner-trainer John Ryan and the versatile pair will be in action at Galway in the Fabio Audiovisuals Handicap Hurdle (3.25), the most valuable event on the card.

Kylecrue’s 11 career victories include five over hurdles, and the ten-year-old heads the weight for the two-mile event, while Draycott Place reverts from fences seeking a third win over hurdles.

Ryan said: “Conor Brassil claims 5lb on Kylecrue and was very happy with the horse when he came in to ride him during the week. He thinks he has a great chance, and he could be right.

“But I think Draycott Place has a wonderful chance. Danny Mullins rides and the horse, who was hobdayed during the summer, has never been as fit and well as he is now."

Calino bids to double up

Calino D’airy, who made all to win on his debut over fences at Galway earlier this month, returns to Ballybrit to face four rivals in the 2m2f novice chase (1.40).

JJ Slevin takes over from Bryan Cooper and Henry de Bromhead, who trains the five-year-old for Gigginstown House Stud, said: “Calino D’airy won his beginners' chase well and came out of the race in good form. We’re happy with him and looking forward to getting him out again.”

The form of Calino D’airy’s win was boosted when the runner-up Close Shave won at Thurles on Thursday, although his job was made easier when 11-10 favourite Carrig Cathal fell at the fast.

Those taking on De Bromhead's five-year-old include two other chase winners – the John Kiely-trained Don’t Tell No One and Jack The Wire, the mount of Denis Hogan.

The Barry Geraghty factor

Barry Geraghty goes to Wexford for four rides, kicking off with Roseriver Has for Noel Meade in the 2m4f four-year-old maiden hurdle (12.50).

Meade said: “Roseriver Has is on the small side but he’s won a bumper and ran well on his debut over hurdles when third to Fayonagh at Fairyhouse. He jumps well and is in good form."

Geraghty’s other mounts include Tesseract for Joseph O’Brien and JP McManus in the 2m4f Casey Precast Handicap Chase (3.45).

The winner of three bumpers and two hurdle races, Tesseract got off the mark over fences at the Galway festival in August and O’Brien said: “He’s been in good form at home and we’re hoping for a good run.”
