Tiger Roll is an exceptional horse, but nothing quite encapsulates the love and affection racing fans have for the little warrior as the way he has changed attitudes to cross-country chasing at Cheltenham.

Not long ago these events were Cheltenham's Marmite, with many crossing the racecourse proper to get up close and personal with the dizzying spectacle – and a great many more heading to the bar to get dizzy themselves.

Through sheer charm and force of personality Tiger Roll has dragged racegoers trackside from the bars and in doing so elevated a once divisive novelty into the main event. That is star power.
