Rachael Blackmore: jockey's fairytale rise could be about to hit defining moment
When Rachael Blackmore reflects on turning professional back in 2015, she often muses that she didn't exactly have anything to lose.
"It's not like I was leaving behind a fantastic career as an amateur," she has said before.
Blackmore had ridden 11 point-to-point winners across seven seasons and just seven in total under rules. By the time she got off the mark as a professional aboard Most Honourable for Shark Hanlon, whose faith in her ability prompted her to take the plunge into the paid ranks at Clonmel in September 2015, a year had passed since her previous winner.
