Santiago and Sherpa the hot ones in the Irish Derby betting
Santiago and Sherpa are the ones catching punters' eyes for this evening's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.
An impressive winner of last week's Queen's Vase, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Santiago has been solid at the head of the market at 11-4 generally, while the money continues to pour in for the Donnacha O'Brien-trained Sherpa, who is now 15-2 (from 10) with Paddy Power having been 16-1 earlier in the week.
However, Arthur's Kingdom, one of six Aidan O'Brien runners as the trainer seeks a 14th success in the Irish Derby (7.15), has been easy to back with his odds pushed out to 7-1 (from 6).
Caravan Of Hope, 5-1 (from 8), is the big mover in the betting for the Betfair Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.
Rainbow Dreamer has also been backed to continue trainer Alan King's fine form on the Flat, having been supported into as low as 6-1 (from 15-2), although 7-1 is still available.
Rajinsky and Just Hubert, both 12-1 (from 14), are other Plate runners being backed, while Collide, 20-1 (from 16), is going the other way in the market.
There are now two non-runners in the race with Mukha Magic joining Technological in missing out.
The going description on the Tapeta surface at Newcastle has been changed to standard (from standard to slow).
