With Paisley Park and If The Cap Fits, first and second in the betting for the Stayers’ Hurdle in March, lining up this is very much a trial to be reckoned with.

The first thing to say is, if you fancy one of them for the festival you might be better off backing them for that rather than this, as their respective odds for the Cleeve are 8-11 and 9-2 compared with 5-4 and 7-1 for the Stayers’.

There’s the not so small matter of Benie Des Dieux still having an entry in the latter, but the vibes following her wide-margin win at Gowran on Thursday suggest she’ll head for the mares’ race.
