One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow on Saturday

Trainer

Phil Kirby suffered a blow when owner Darren Yates took away his expensively purchased horses but, as the saying goes, you can never keep a good man down.

The popular North Yorkshire trainer still has a fine string of horses and Top Ville Ben, renowned for his big ears and enthusiastic way of running, bids for glory in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase (3.40).

The seven-year-old faces the likes of Grade 1 winner La Bague Au Roi and Welsh National scorer Elegant Escape but is himself two from three at the track.

Kirby also runs another stable star in Lady Buttons, who won the Grade 2 Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle at Doncaster last term. The nine-year-old returns to defend her crown in the bet365 Mares' Hurdle (1.55) and start what could be an excellent afternoon for her trainer.

Jockey

Sean Levey added two more Group 1s to his CV this season, courtesy of King Of Change in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Billesdon Brook in the Sun Chariot Stakes.

The Classic-winning jockey will again partner Billesdon Brook as she attempts a third top-level triumph in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (8.54). There could be no finer way to end a terrific campaign for the pair than victory at Santa Anita.

Horse

Anthony Van Dyck looked to have the world at his feet following a gritty success in the Investec Derby in June but he arrives at the Breeders' Cup off the back of three defeats, albeit a respectable effort for third in the Irish Champion Stakes last time.

The leading light for Aidan O'Brien at Santa Anita, following the withdrawal and retirement of Magical, the Galileo colt bids to make amends in the Breeders' Cup Turf (11.40).

Drawn in stall five, the three-year-old faces an American star in Bricks And Mortar but the quick ground at the track looks likely to suit. The stage looks set for a thrilling showdown.

Race

The Ladbrokes Champion Chase (2.25) at Down Royal has unsurprisingly attracted a top-class line-up and includes King George hero Clan Des Obeaux and star novice chaser Delta Work.

It would be unwise to write off Road To Respect given his 16-length success in this 3m contest last year, while Snow Falcon and Alpha Des Obeaux are high-class operators on their day.
