One key runner from each of the seven races on ITV on Friday
Sebastopol1.20 Musselburgh
Betway Handicap Hurdle, 2m4f
ITV's first race of 2021 comes from Musselburgh and Sebastopol appears a leading contender.
The Tom Lacey-trained six-year-old won the Scottish County Hurdle at this track in February and returns off a 4lb higher mark.
He ran creditably when sixth in the Gerry Feilden on his return at Newbury in November and should find this easier.
The Getaway Star
1.27 Tramore
Goodbye 2020 Hello 2021 Maiden Hurdle, 2m5f
Trainer Declan Queally landed this race with Owenacurra Lass last year and seeks to repeat the feat with The Getaway Star.
The six-year-old was useful in bumpers, finishing second in a Listed event at Market Rasen in February, and has made a promising start over hurdles in good company. She should go close.
Miranda
1.55 Musselburgh
Betway Hogmaneigh Handicap Hurdle, 1m7½f
Paul Nicholls celebrated his 100th winner of the season at Warwick on Thursday and sends four runners to Musselburgh, including Miranda for this competitive handicap hurdle.
Miranda is up 7lb for a recent victory at Ludlow and Angus Cheleda keeps the ride. Cheleda has been successful on both his rides this week for Nicholls, striking on Hacker Des Places at Wetherby and Calva D'Auge at Newbury.
Added Bonus
2.02 Tramore
Tramore Medical Clinic Handicap Hurdle, 2m5f
This lightly raced seven-year-old is open to improvement on his handicap hurdle debut this afternoon.
Sean Flanagan's mount, trained by John J Walsh, did not run without promise when seventh behind Appreciate It at Cork last time and the point-to-point fourth should be suited by the step up in trip.
Oscar Ceremony
2.30 Musselburgh
Betway Casino Handicap Chase, 3m
This ten-year-old was an encouraging second at Newcastle on his stable debut for Brian Ellison and was successful on his previous visit to Musselburgh in February.
Danny McMenamin's mount was dropped 1lb for his reappearance and should take high order in this handicap chase.
Al Boum Photo
2.37 Tramore
Savills New Year’s Day Chase (Grade 3), 2m5½f
The standout race of the day features the eagerly anticipated return of dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo.
Successful in this in 2019 and last year, he is odds-on to complete the hat-trick despite giving weight away to all, including stablemates Acapella Bourgeois and Brahma Bull.
Garde La Victoire
3.05 Musselburgh
Betway ‘Auld Reekie’ Handicap Chase, 2m4½f
Popular veteran Garde La Victoire makes the long trip to Scotland after two solid runs this season.
The Philip Hobbs-trained 12-year-old may be vulnerable to younger improvers but is bound to once again run his race with Tom O'Brien in the saddle.
