One jockey, one trainer, one horse and one race to watch on day five

One jockey

Ryan Moore has had one winner on each of the first four days of Royal Ascot and has a strong book of rides on the concluding day, including Queen Mary Stakes favourite More Beautiful (1.15).

The daughter of Air Force Blue made a big impression when winning her debut at Naas comfortably.

Moore, a winner on Circus Maximus, Russian Emperor, Battleground and Santiago this week, all for Aidan O'Brien, also partners Admiral Nelson in the Coventry (1.50), talented maiden and Coronation Stakes contender So Wonderful (2.25) and St James's Palace Stakes runner Wichita (3.00) for the Ballydoyle trainer.

The 36-year-old's full book of rides is completed by Magical Wish (12.40), Dream Of Dreams (3.35), Gulliver (4.10) and Imphal (4.40).

One trainer

Charlie Appleby's team have made a solid start to the delayed Flat season, so it must be a slight source of frustration that the team from Moulton Paddocks have not managed to get on the board at Royal Ascot this week.

Appleby saddles only two runners on the final day at Ascot but one of those in Pinatubo, last year's outstanding champion two-year-old who returned to action with a respectable third in the 2,000 Guineas.

It is a quick turnaround for the rapid son of Shamardal but a crucial date nonetheless, with connections hoping he can deliver a first Group 1 at a mile in the St James's Palace Stakes (3.00).

The Godolphin trainer also runs Newmarket debut winner Creative Force in the Coventry Stakes (1.50).

One horse

Plenty of winners have emerged from Newcastle's Tapeta surface this week and Palace Pier (3.00) puts his Group 1 credentials to the test after an impressive three-and-a-quarter win there this month.

John Gosden has never been afraid to run a good one at Newcastle and while this is a significant step up for the unbeaten three-year-old, his lightly raced profile adds a fascinating layer to the St James's Palace Stakes involving last year's champion two-year-old Pinatubo and 2,000 Guineas runner-up Wichita.

One race

Unlike the other two Group 1s on the card, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (3.35) has remained in its usual slot in this unusual Royal Ascot and will provide a solid guide to the best six-furlong sprinters ahead of their upcoming clashes with the three-year-old crop, headed by Commonwealth Cup winner Golden Horde.

Last year's Diamond Jubilee second and fourth Dream Of Dreams and Speak In Colours are in the line-up, as is 2017 winner The Tin Man and 2018 Champions Sprint winner Sands Of Mali.

One Master also brings strong course form to the table, while Hello Youmzain is a Group 1 winner and we have not even mentioned the unexposed Khaadem and rising Irish star Sceptical yet, who is on a five-timer.

It is the last Group 1 of the meeting, but also one of the most fascinating and open of the week.
