On The Go Again out to make trainer Mulvany's trek worthwhile in Listed test

With a maximum field, four last-time-out winners and seven of the 16 runners rated 100 or higher, it is safe to say that whoever wins this valuable Listed prize will deserve it.

Twelve months on from landing the Lartigue Hurdle at one of the most well-attended Irish festivals, On The Go Again is back seeking more Listowel success and trainer Mick Mulvany is hoping the 600km round trip from his Navan base will have a happy outcome.

"It's a long way down to Listowel and I'll be going up and back on the same day. I just hope it's worth it!" laughed Mulvany.

"It's a much bigger field than I was expecting but he'll have his ground for the first time in a long while and we know he likes the course having won over hurdles there last year.

"We have had this race in mind for a while and he seems in great form at home, so fingers crossed he'll show us what he is made of."

Dermot Weld has wasted little time in stepping Dabiyr up in class. The three-year-old, already gelded, just has a Gowran Park maiden win on his CV but the form of that contest was given a boost during the week when the third home won a maiden by a wide margin at that same venue.

Weld said: "Dabiyr is a horse we've always liked and the maiden he won at Gowran Park is working out well. We thought this was a nice next step for him and I've been very happy with him at home."

Marshall Jennings has a hectic schedule ahead. The six-year-old son of Lawman, who was third to I Can Fly in a Listed event at Killarney last time, turns up here but will be back in action in a few days' time at the Irish Champions Weekend in whichever event trainer Jessica Harrington feels is most suitable.

She said: "He's a lovely horse who always runs better in stakes races than handicaps. It looks a hot race but he'll take his chance and we'll see how he goes. It will be a nice warm-up for him as you'll definitely see him in something next weekend."

Aidan O'Brien is triple-handed with Hence, Clear Skies and Curly, while Willie McCreery is represented by Mazzuri as the Curragh trainer tries to win the race for the third time in four years following the victories of Devonshire (2015) and Champagne Or Water (2016).
