O'Brien delighted with major improver Lovelier ahead of Kilboy assignment
4.15 CurraghGroup 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes | 1m1f | 3yo+ | RTV/ITV4
There is no greater force than a Ballydoyle-trained filly in form, which will make Lovelier a warm order in this.
Lovelier has a similar profile to her sister, the dual Guineas and multiple Group 1 winner, Winter.
Having showed little at two, and again when comfortably beaten in a maiden at Gowran Park on her comeback, Lovelier took her form to a whole new level when landing the Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney on Monday.
There was nothing flukey about that performance either. Lovelier had a wall of horses ahead of her and had to be brave in coming through the gaps and, once she did, she quickly settled the matter to account for a decent bunch of fillies comfortably.
What they say
Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Crotchet and Snapraeceps
It looks an open race and both of mine are in good shape. Snapraeceps ran a career-best at Cork last time and we were delighted with that. She drops down in trip but should be capable of running well. Crotchet is going up in trip and both fillies will be trying to get more black type.
Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Lovelier
It's a quick turnaround from Killarney and she hasn't done anything since but seems to be in good form. We were delighted with her at Killarney. She did well because she's still probably a bit babyish but Wayne [Lordan] gave her a lovely ride.
Michael Halford, trainer of Ridenza
She's in great form. She came on nicely from her first run back at Leopardstown and I don't think she'll have any problems stepping up to nine furlongs. The ground should also suit.
