Whirling Dervish, a son of Camelot, announced himself as a bright prospect for Jessica Harrington when winning a two-year-old maiden on heavy ground at Tipperary late last season and looks the most interesting runner at Cork on Saturday (4.15).

Having his first start since that impressive display, Harrington will be hoping the colt, who has some interesting big-race entries, can confirm himself an exciting prospect.

The in-form trainer said: "We're very happy with him. Hopefully it’s going to be a good starting point for him.

"He won very well on heavy ground at Tipperary last season so we know he'll handle the conditions."

Of the three rivals due to face Whirling Dervish, the Dermot Weld-trained Bandua appears the most capable of denting the likely favourite's reputation.

An impressive winner over course and distance on his debut last month, Bandua will be trying to give away weight to his rivals.

The field is completed by Dawn Hoofer and Marlborough Sounds, both of whom look to be making up the numbers.

No rest for hat-trick seeker Paddocks

Park Paddocks, a winner of his last two races over hurdles for Gordon Elliott, including a competitive handicap at Punchestown last week, bids to stretch his successful sequence to three when tackling the rated hurdle (3.00) at Wexford.

Elliott hit the ground running for the new season, sending out a winner at Kilbeggan on Monday and Park Paddocks looks to have the strongest claims of the trainers four runners on the card.

The Michael Bowe-trained Jaime Sommers would be an obvious threat if back to her best, while Tom Gibney's Play The Game and Austin Leahy's Getoutwhenyoucan, who is blinkered for the first time, are other interesting rivals.

Paul Nolan will be hoping his partnership with Bryan Cooper will continue to blossom at his local track.

Cooper, who rides out for Nolan once a week, is aboard Monatype for the trainer in this race and also partners the stable's Castafiore Park in the 3m handicap hurdle (4.05).
