Made giant strides last season, winning four times over this trip (various ground); took another step forward when scoring at Haydock on his reappearance and he had excuses (met trouble, 6f) when last of eight at that track 15 days ago; could still have a bigger effort in him and needs serious consideration.

13:15 EBF Maiden Stakes - Magical Land

Fine debut effort when runner-up from poor draw on the Rowley Mile last month, getting outpaced at the halfway stage before making ground well wide of the favoured rail (6f, good to firm); had subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Nando Parrado back in fifth that day (fourth, sixth and 11th also scored next time) and looks the one to beat.

Favoured by the weights with Presidential on their 7f run at Doncaster last August (soft; has won on good to firm) and little between him and Charles Molson if both run to their Ascot form 12 months ago (awarded race); looks sure to have a say after going close at Redcar last month.

14:25 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes - Time Scale

Could never strike a blow after slow start on debut (5f, good to firm) and clearly appreciated step up to 6f when romping home at Chepstow (good to soft); similarly impressive in Listed company on the Rowley Mile latest (6f, good to firm) and is an obvious contender.

15:00 bet365 Trophy - Themaxwecan

Developed into a useful staying handicapper in 2019 and latest 1m6f Royal Ascot fourth suggests he may not have reached his limit yet, staying on well after being denied a clear run; major player under Moore.

15:35 bet365 Handicap - Enemy

Made bright start when 7f winner at Ascot in 2019; has stayed on steadily in both starts this year, at Yarmouth (7f novice; firm) and when a creditable fourth in the Britannia at Ascot (1m, soft) and his classy pedigree suggests that he will come into his own over 1m2f; highly respected.

16:10 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes -

Best form on good to soft or slower; first five races at 1m2f, winning two Group 2s, but the drop to 1m so nearly paid off in the Queen Anne at Ascot, where after a right royal battle she lost out on the nod to a proven Group 1 performer; surely only a matter of time before she wins at this level.
