Names to note: three Cheltenham Festival hopes to watch on a cracking Friday
There is an action-packed afternoon of racing on Friday and plenty of good quality on offer. James Stevens picks out three top prospects worth keeping an eye on.
Mister Coffey
12.50 Huntingdon
Trainer Nicky Henderson described this five-year-old as a horse who is "going to be spectacular" so it is certainly interesting to see whether he can live up to that mighty reputation.
He is unbeaten in two starts, having won a decent novice hurdle at Newbury in impressive fashion on his reappearance after a bumper success for Harry Whittington at this track last season. He is expected to further his reputation today.
Hawk High1.50 Doncaster
It has been a frustrating campaign for Tim Easterby's chaser, finishing second on all three outings. The horses that have beaten him are progressive types, none more so than Marracudja who went on to finish third in the Clarence House Chase.
Connections could have one eye on the Grand Annual for Hawk High, who won the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2014, and a big performance here could be enough to sneak him in at the bottom of the weights.
Galice Macalo
2.25 Doncaster
The Listed Sky Bet Fillies' Juvenile Hurdle features a rematch between Galice Macalo and Midnights' Gift. The last-named filly was victorious that day but there was nothing separating the pair before the last when Galice Macalo fell.
Jane Williams' runner looks a smart and improving type and may well gain compensation.
