4.20 SedgefieldCollins Seafoods Young Chaser Series Final Handicap Chase | 2m5f | 5yo+ | ATR

Fish and chips will be the order of the day as Sedgefield hosts its annual fixture sponsored by Collins Seafoods, and there is a tasty prize on offer for the five chasers lining up in this series final.

With £30,000 total prize-money, of which £18,768 goes to the winner, the race will pay for plenty of fish suppers and has attracted trainers from as far away as Wales and Somerset - and there is lots of winning form on offer.

In order to qualify for the final, runners had to participate in a qualifier. While Bishops Court was a faller when contesting a race at the track back in November, he comes into this race in fantastic form, chasing a five-timer for Neil Mulholland.

The seven-year-old has risen 23lb in the handicap as a result of a brace of wins at Fontwell and also Wincanton.

Evan Williams is sending On The Road back to the track following a 38-length win last time, and is keen to support the race.

He said: "When tracks like Sedgefield put on such good prize-money I think it's very important we try to support them. On The Road won a poor race and has gone up 7lb, which is far from ideal.

"He's going the right way and is a nice type of horse, but it's a step up in class."

Brian Ellison has fewer miles to cover to get Volvalien to the track, who, like On The Road, comes into the race off a win here last time.

That was over 2m½f, and Ellison said: "The step up in trip is a concern, we tried him over it at Sandown when we thought he didn't get it, but the first and second have won again."

The winner that day, Pilgrims Bay, has subsequently landed the BetBright Handicap Chase at Kempton, while the runner-up, Antartica De Thaix, was a wide-margin winner at Bangor.

Ellison added: "He's done nothing but improve this year and we're hopeful."

Wolf Sword has not finished out of the first four in his last four runs, including a win at Uttoxeter, and runs for Sue Smith, with Cabragh completing the field for Sam England.
