Melon all set to give us another dream start in the Supreme

Melon leads us into battle on the opening day of the festival when he will be one of four runners representing us in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, the opening race of the meeting and one we’ve won five times, most recently with Douvan two years ago.

Much is being made of the fact that Melon has had only the one run over hurdles and that no horse has won the race with so little experience since Flown 25 years ago, and of course, that is a bit of a concern.

However, we rate Melon very highly and, bar a mistake at the last, he was very impressive when winning his maiden hurdle at Leopardstown by ten lengths.
