James McDonald, who rode a winner on his first trip to Yarmouth a week ago, is hoping for a follow-up on New Year's Night, who makes a return from more than a year off in the feature on ladies' night.

Trained by Charlie Appleby, New Year's Night was a progressive type last spring when winning twice on the all-weather before being just touched off by the useful Penhill on his final outing on turf at Ascot last May.
