McCreery hoping that magic wand will work with Perle De La Mer

Willie McCreery's magic wand seems to work best with fillies and he is hoping to pull another rabbit out of his hat with wide-margin Galway maiden winner Perle De La Mer.

The daughter of Born To Sea was backed into 7-2 for her debut in a 7f maiden on soft ground at Galway last September and could hardly have been more impressive in putting six and a half lengths between herself and nearest pursuer Stormy Belle.

Although she was only fifth of ten behind Eziyra in the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh on her second start, her future still looks bright and McCreery is hopeful of a bold showing.

"She seems in great from but this will be the quickest ground she's ever run on," he said. "It's a great opportunity for her to pick up some black type. She'll love the mile and we have to run."

This is a terribly tricky puzzle to solve. All six runners are officially rated between 88 and 99 and the filly with the highest mark has not even won a race yet.

Bean Feasa remains a maiden after five starts but has bumped into a few stars along the way and her return to action at Gowran Park last Sunday was very encouraging. She could have more to offer.

Given the number of top-class three-year-old fillies Aidan O'Brien has at his disposal, for him to throw Asking and Elizabeth Browning into the mix speaks volumes.

O'Brien said: "It took a long time for Elizabeth Browning to come good last season but she ran well in the Athasi Stakes first time out this year and we think stepping up to a mile should suit.

"Asking won her maiden at Dundalk before finishing second in a winners' race there. We think she's progressing and we're happy with both of them."

Holy Cat looked to have the world at her feet after she scooted clear to win a 6f maiden at the track last August and, while she has disappointed twice since at a higher level, it is far too soon to right her off.

The six-runner field is completed by Dundalk maiden winner Shes Ranger from the Adrian Murray stable.
