Hamdan Al Maktoum's blue-and-white-silks have been seen infrequently in Germany in recent years, but the leading owner-breeder will be hoping they can find their way into the winner's enclosure on Sunday courtesy of Markaz.

The Owen Burrows inmate, who contests the 6f Goldene Peitsche (3.40) at Baden-Baden, won the Chipchase Stakes over today's distance at Newcastle in June and ran respectably when stepped up to 7f, finishing fifth in the Lennox Stakes and fourth in the Hungerford.

He drops back to a trip in line with his pedigree - his sister Mecca's Angel won the Nunthorpe for the second year running last week - and connections are optimistic of a positive run.
