Lyons out to continue bright start to season with Harbour Beacon

Ger Lyons has made a fine start to the season, sending out 19 winners – more than any other trainer – and finding himself with only Aidan O'Brien ahead in the prize-money list.

His stable jockey Colin Keane has also made a bright start to the campaign and goes to Cork on the 21-winner mark and with only Pat Smullen in front of him in the jockeys' table.

They team up with Harbour Beacon, winner of a Dundalk maiden over a slightly longer trip last month, in this five-runner event, in which he is opposed by three other maiden winners and the maiden Tommy Hallinan.

Sir Edwin Landseer, the mount of Ana O'Brien, won a maiden over just short of a mile at Roscommon last year, when he also finished in the money on his other five starts.

'He should progress well'

The colt's trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "Sir Edwin Landseer is well and we're hoping for a good run, which he should progress from. He's stepping up in trip and we think the distance should suit him well."

Tommy Hallinan, placed on all of his four starts, two of them this season, represents Willie McCreery, who said: "He's in good form and I think the trip will be right up his alley. But it'll be his first time on good or quicker ground and we'll just have to see how he handles it."

Godolphin are represented by the Jim Bolger-trained Chronicles, who won a maiden over the trip at Navan last month on his second start, and the Michael Halford-trained Allography, who has done most of his racing at Dundalk, where he won a mile maiden in March.
