Lynch eyeing Fortria hat-trick on Alisier

Alisier D'Irlande will bid to give rider Andrew Lynch a third win in the Grade 2 TheTote.com Fortria Chase (2.10), named in memory of Fortria, a dual winner of the Champion Chase at Cheltenham as well as the Irish Grand National in the early 1960s.

Lynch won this race on Flemenstar in 2012 and 2013 and his mount, trained by Henry de Bromhead, faces seven rivals in this year's contest.

A three-time winner over fences, Alisier D'Irlande made all the running when securing those victories and De Bromhead said: "He has made all in the past but he doesn't have to. He can also be dropped in, so we'll see what we'll do this time."

Gordon Elliott, who is represented by the vastly experienced pair Clarcam and The Game Changer, said: "Both of them are in good form but they're very hit and miss and you can never be sure what you're going to get from either of them."

Big things expected from classy Mengli

Mengli Khan, a six-length winner of a maiden hurdle over the course and distance, goes in the Grade 3 For Auction Novice Hurdle (1.10) with trainer Gordon Elliott expecting a big performance from the four-year-old, whom he rates highly.

"He's a nice horse and was very good winning his maiden. We're very happy with him," he said. "We also run Morgan, who has a 7lb penalty for his three hurdle wins. He's in good order but it will be tough enough for him having to give weight to the others."

Stratum, winner of a maiden on his hurdling debut at Galway in September, looks the main danger to Elliott's pair and represents Willie Mullins, Ruby Walsh and Tony Bloom.

Footpad looks to get chase career off to a winning start

Footpad starts off over fences in the 2m1f Beginners Chase (2.45) with Daryl Jacob travelling over to Ireland to partner the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned five-year-old.

The dual Grade 1-winning hurdler, Footpad was runner-up in the Irish Champion Hurdle last season as well as finishing fourth in the Stan James Champion Hurdle.

His trainer Willie Mullins said: "Footpad's form over hurdles was good. He has schooled well and is in good form."

Footpad's six rivals include the Elliott-trained Brelade who has finished second on his two starts over fences, most recently behind Petit Mouchoir at Punchestown last month.

"Brelade's in good form and has the advantage of having run in a couple of chases but, based on his hurdles form, Footpad will be difficult to beat," Elliott said.
