Luxembourg back at the Curragh as O'Brien looks to save season for Classic colts
As the Flat season wound to conclusion in 2021, it was Luxembourg who rode to the rescue at Doncaster ensuring the year wouldn’t boast the rare and dubious distinction of being one that Ballydoyle failed to unearth a Group 1-winning juvenile colt.
Aidan O’Brien’s juveniles crackled into life later than normal, but there was no denying the sort of depth he often has to draw upon simply wasn’t there. Proof of that is now writ large across 2022.
Tuesday pinched a Classic courtesy of a fabulous Ryan Moore steer and Tenebrism picked up the Prix Jean Prat along the way, but so far the three-year-old colts have fallen well short in the highest echelon, a point starkly illustrated by Tuesday being the stable’s sole representative in the Irish Derby.
