Back at the height of Treve mania, Criquette Head allowed herself to think of a time she no longer ran her own yard.

"I would have my horses with Carlos because I think you'd have a lot of fun," she said.

The trainer in question was her son-in-law, Carlos Laffon-Parias, who arrived in Chantilly from Madrid to assist her 30 years ago and who has since built an impressive CV that includes a Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe victory courtesy of Solemia.
