La Rioja bids to rediscover Group-winning form in Summer
Three-year-old fillies done well in the 188Bet Summer Stakes (4.00) and both La Rioja and Besharah bring Group-winning credentials from their juvenile campaigns as they attempt to enhance that record.
La Rioja left the reopposing Mayfair Lady some way adrift when the pair met in the Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury last September and should find this task easier than when chasing after Quiet Reflection at Haydock and then in Ascot’s Commonwealth Cup on her two starts this season.
“It definitely looks like she has improved quite a bit for her run at Ascot and she has worked well since,” said her trainer Henry Candy. “We're happy she has matured a bit and she seems a bit more straightforward. She has done a lot of growing up as she's a huge filly.”
