A hell of a lot has happened in a short space of time. Poetic Flare has already won the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, finished sixth in the French equivalent and is now trying to win Ireland's first Classic of the season on what will be his fourth outing in six weeks.
Battleground was backed all the way into 9-2 favourite at Newmarket, but appeared to be Ballydoyle's third string before he was ruled out of the race due to soft ground. He was 13th of 14 at Newmarket, and only two places ahead of him was Wembley. Van Gogh was eighth and did best of the Ballydoyle brigade. Imagine if you were told that before the race?
