Key King George contenders proven with cut but Enable may be the least happy
Pietro Innocenzi assesses who could be the winners and losers if heavy rain arrives at Ascot before Saturday's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Enable won her first Arc on soft ground – producing her best performance according to Racing Post Ratings – and the King George on good to soft in 2017, so easing conditions should not faze her as she bids for her 11th win on the bounce.
Unusually for such a big race in the summer, the first five in the betting – Enable, Crystal Ocean, Anthony Van Dyck, Defoe and Waldgeist – have won Group races on soft ground.
