John Quinn hoping for more success with bargain-buy Highfield Princess
Coral All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championships Conditions Stakes | 4yo+ | 7f | ITV4/SKY
Royal Ascot winner Highfield Princess has proved some buy at the 29,000gns she cost as a yearling.
Not only did she land the Buckingham Palace Handicap over this trip last June, but she also went on to finish second in Group 2 company at York and success here would take her earnings past £240,000.
She has an edge on Racing Post Ratings over the hugely progressive Internationalangel, who suffered her first defeat in six races since joining Jane Chapple-Hyam when unable to land a blow in Listed company at Wolverhampton last month.
Hollie Doyle's mount had a BHA mark of just 67 when moving yards last autumn but is rated 100 after her prolific winning spell.
What they say:
John Quinn, trainer of Highfield Princess
She's run well in all her qualifying races, particularly over only five furlongs last time, and she's trained well since her last run. We're happy with her and we hope she can win.
Jane Chapple-Hyam, trainer of Internationalangel
She's got a really good shout. I couldn't be happier with her and she was impressive when she had a sample of the track in February. She didn't enjoy going round the bends when drawn wide at Wolverhampton last time.
Mick Appleby, trainer of Khatwah
She's a bit quirky but she's got ability and I hope Frankie can nick a place on her.
Marco Botti, trainer of Rising Star
She won nicely at Newcastle last month and, although it was a small field, it was still nice to see her back in that sort of form. The drop back to seven furlongs should not inconvenience her and I can see her running a nice race.
