Valdir de Souza is set to have his first ride in Britain since 2007 as John Quinn has secured his services for two runners at Ripon on Saturday.

De Souza had two rides in Britain while he was plying his trade in Ireland. The came first in 2005 aboard Majestic Times in the Ayr Gold Cup, when the rider punched the air crossing the line only for the photo to show he had been denied by two short heads, with the second in 2007 on Rock Of Rochelle at Newmarket. His last ride under rules in Ireland was in 2015.

De Souza has been lured back to Britain principally due to his friendship with John Quinn's son and assistant Sean.
