James Bowen and Chris Dixon join the panel to discuss Saturday's racing
Fusil Raffles returns in the Elite Hurdle. Is he beatable?
James Bowen, jockey I don’t think he’ll be beaten and he’s going to be a better horse this season compared to last. He looks to have strengthened up and could well be a Champion Hurdle contender. The others don’t look as good and if connections have aspirations of taking him to Cheltenham then he has to win this really.
Tom Collins, Racing Post tipster I think he will win. Nicky Henderson won this race last year with Verdana Blue and it’s clearly been the plan to get Fusil Raffles’ season started here. He has the best form in the race, courtesy of his Grade 1 Punchestown success when last seen, and could be a superstar. He’s available at 16-1 for the Champion Hurdle and that could prove to be value.
Pat Cooney, bet365 spokesperson I think he could become Nicky Henderson’s first choice for the Champion Hurdle in March, so I’d have to fancy him, but it won’t be easy as Grand Sancy has the advantage of a recent run and a good record over this course and distance.
