ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the six races on ITV4 on Wednesday
1.50 Newmarket
bet365 Handicap, 6f
Going Places has been progressive on the all-weather this winter and makes his first start on turf since June 2019. After only five starts, he remains unexposed and will have the assistance of Hollie Doyle in the saddle. Stone Of Destiny and Count Otto have chances, while Gunmetal won a Doncaster handicap when last seen.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Count Otto
Back in career-best form on all-weather; very good chance he will again be on the premises
Ballymore Silver Trophy Handicap Chase, Grade 2, 2m4½f
All of The Big Bite's best form has come on flat, galloping tracks so it will be interesting to see how he he follows up his excellent third in the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury last month now switched to Cheltenham. This field is deep with talent, with Cheltenham specialist Coole Cody leading the charge along with Benatar, Magic Saint and the Nicky Henderson-trained Pym.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Creditable third in major course-and-distance handicap in December and also ran well on latest outing
bet365 European Free Handicap, Listed, 7f
Some big hitters line up here with dual Group 2 runner-up Ontario looking a strong challenger for Aidan O'Brien. The Galileo colt was only just touched off by New Mandate in the Royal Lodge over this course last season and will need to hit the ground running if he is to prove himself a Classic contender. Naval Crown gives Godolphin a notable challenger despite a penalty, while Tactical runs in the colours of The Queen for Andrew Balding.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Fourth in Doncaster Listed race last September and that Flying Scotsman form worked out well
Wednesday's free racing tips: six horses to consider putting in your multiples
Kingston Stud Handicap Hurdle, 2m4½f
Proschema, Global Society and Java Point look leading contenders in an open handicap hurdle.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Global Society
Back in the groove with good third at Stratford last month; up in trip off same mark here
bet365 Earl Of Sefton Stakes, Group 3, 1m1f
Global Giant arrives in top form having dismantled his five rivals in the Listed Magnolia Stakes at Kempton last time. A Listed winner on the turf last season, the six-year-old will be looking for a first victory at Group level and has Frankie Dettori on board. My Oberon ran several good races in defeat last season and should progress further at four.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Marie's Diamond
Easy Listed winner here last June and could enjoy a tactical advantage once more
Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes, Group 3, 7f
There are several in this who will be looking to mark themselves out as potential Guineas contenders, none more so than Saffron Beach for Jane Chapple-Hyam. The daughter of New Bay won the Group 3 Oh So Sharp last October and arrives into this season as a filly primed for big things. Love Is You is also unbeaten for Roger Charlton, while Sacred showed enough at two to suggest there is more to come this season.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Love Is You
2-2, latterly Listed race; faces probably different ground but looks an exciting prospect
