ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the six races on ITV4 on Friday
1.45 Chester
tote+ Placepots Pay More Earl Grosvenor Handicap, 7½f
Charlie Hills is in excellent form and the trainer is represented by Dulas, a son of Raven's Pass who outran his odds when second at 12-1 on his seasonal reappearance, for which he has gone up 1lb – this extra half furlong should suit him under Silvestre de Sousa.
Revich was another to run well last time as he was fourth in the Spring Cup at Newbury, which puts him firmly in the picture.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Revich
Has a fine record here and arrives in good form; strong claims
2.00 Market Rasen
Unibet "You're On" Handicap Chase, 3m
Larkbarrow Lad had some strong form as a youngster and his last two runs suggest he is nearing a return to something like that form.
However, this handicap chase will not be easy as he comes up against the in-form Forgot To Ask and course winner As You Like.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: As You Like
Clear signs of a revival at Southwell and he's well treated if he can build on that
Friday's free racing tips: six horses to consider putting in your multiples
Melodi Media Huxley Stakes, Group 2, 1m2½f
Sir Michael Stoute is not a trainer to rush his horses and we have not seen Sangarius since December but based on the form of his win in the Listed Quebec Stakes at Lingfield, he still has plenty of ability.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained Armory was second in the Cox Plate last time and should be capable of contesting Group 1s this season, while Bangkok was a nose behind Sangarius in the Quebec Stakes.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Armory
Runner-up in Group 1 Cox Plate last time out in October and leading form claims on return
2.45 Chester
tote+ Chester Cup Handicap, 2m2½f
Hughie Morrison has never won the Chester Cup, which is perhaps surprising given how successfully he campaigns dual-purpose horses. He looks to have an excellent chance with Not So Sleepy.
The nine-year-old looked as good as ever during the jumps season when he won a valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot and his chances will have been boosted by the rain this week.
Frankie Dettori teams up with Dermot Weld and rides Falcon Eight, while Franny Norton is always a man to follow around the course and he is aboard Trumpet Man for trainer Mark Johnston.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Trumpet Man
First run here; very good chance he can resume improvement with this greater stamina test
2021 Chester Cup: the runners, the odds, the verdict
El Astronaute has an exceptional record at the track and looked to retain most of his ability last season when winning a Listed race on his return at Doncaster in June.
The eight-year-old will bid for his third course and is 7lb clear of his rivals on official ratings. His trainer John Quinn won this race with a favourite in 2012 and looks to have another great chance here.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: King's Lynn
Solid effort dropped to 5f at Newbury on reappearance; unexposed at this trip; respected
3.45 Chester
Retraining Of Racehorses Handicap, 1m2½f
Fox Tal is an intriguing horse. On Champions Day in 2019 he outran his odds in the Group 1 Champion Stakes, finishing a promising fourth to Magical. He was also placed at the top level as a juvenile.
Things have not gone to plan since, but Andrew Balding aims a lot of his horses at this meeting and it is interesting he has chosen to apply a hood to Fox Tal, who has been gelded since we last saw him.
Course-and-distance winner Restorer runs for Marwan Koukash, who adores this meeting, so expect him to be primed in opposition.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Fox Tal
May turn things around, having been gelded since last run; had G1 form earlier in career
