ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the six races on ITV on Saturday
From The Horse's Mouth Podcast Novices' Chase, Grade 2, 2m
Third Time Lucki dominates the market for this four-runner contest after an impressive chasing debut at Cheltenham's Showcase meeting last month saw his odds slashed for the Arkle in March. Captain Tom Cat and Mick Pastor meet again after finishing 1-2 in the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase last week.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Third Time Lucki
Impressive win over course-and-distance on last month's chase debut and he holds leading claims today
Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase, Grade 3, 2m4f
The big race of the day features a full field of 20 with last year’s winner Coole Cody back to defend his crown. Grade 1 winner Lalor bids to return to his previous form now under the care of champion trainer Paul Nicholls, while Protektorat, Al Dancer and Midnight Shadow hold leading claims.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Protektorat
Asserted in good style in Grade 1 novice race at Aintree (2m4f, good to soft) in April
Paddy Power Games Handicap Hurdle, Listed, 3m
Bet365 Hurdle runner-up Proschema drops in class for Dan and Harry Skelton while Sporting John, who beat Shan Blue in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles in February, returns to hurdles having undergone wind surgery since failing to complete his last two starts.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Ballymillsy
3m may be shorter than ideal; could have the most potential in this field; will stay well
Betway Golden Rose Stakes, Listed, 6f
The Last Lion returns to the track for trainer Mark Johnston for the first time since winning the Middle Park over five years ago. The Ismail Mohammed-trained Good Effort won this race last year and has a 100 per cent record at the track.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Good Effort
3-3 at the track and he's looked as good as ever this year; obvious claims
Paddy Power Feel Like A Favourite Intermediate Handicap Hurdle, 2m5f
The Skeltons are well represented again with Unexpected Party, who was a dominant winner at Wetherby a fortnight ago. Mackelduff seeks a hat-trick for the in-form Olly Murphy while trainer Tony Martin will be hopeful of plundering another Cheltenham handicap for Ireland with Good Time Jonny.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Unexpected Party
Up in the weights and in grade after Wetherby win but did it very easily
Betway Churchill Stakes, Listed, 1m2f
The Churchill Stakes is blessed this year by the presence of a Group 1 star as Pyledriver makes his return to the track for the first time since winning the Coronation Cup in June as he prepares for next month’s Hong Kong Vase. There are plenty waiting to pounce if Pyledriver shows signs of rustiness, including last year’s winner Dubai Warrior and the consistent Fox Tal.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Felix
Smart form earlier in the year, including course-and-distance win; can go well fresh; strong contender
