Friday: 2.25 Newmarket
Unibet Princess Royal Stakes (Group 3) | 1m4f | 3yo+ fillies and mares | ITV4/RTV

Albaflora, who would have started a warm favourite for this Group 3, was declared a non-runner this morning on account of the fast ground.

Her absence enhances the chance of John Gosden, who has won this four times in the decade since it was transferred back from Ascot – including with the high-class Journey (2015, 2016) - adding to his tally.

This time the Clarehaven trainer, in conjunction with son Thady, relies on Pennymoor, who must bounce back from a modest showing in the Listed Galtres Stakes at York.

Forbearance, the Galtres winner who subsequently finished a narrow third on Irish Champions Weekend, is Jessica Harrington's only runner at the three-day meeting and has to be noted given the trainer's impressive form.

What they say

Tom Marquand, rider of Domino Darling
If she can run as she did in a Listed race at York, she'll run a nice race and hopefully she can back that up.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of Forbearance
She's very tough and is in good form. She's had two great runs at York and Leopardstown lately and the ground is looking good, so I'm hoping for the best.

Philip Robinson, racing manager to Dr Ali Ridha, owner of Golden Pass
She's down in class and trip and acted well on the July course, so should be okay on the Rowley Mile. I think it will take a good one to beat her.

George Boughey, trainer of Mystery Angel
Her form figures at Newmarket are impressive, so we're looking forward to going back there as it can be a specialist track. She's had a break since disappointing last time and we expect her to run a big race, especially if it continues to dry out.

John Gosden, joint-trainer of Pennymoor
She was a little disappointing at York last time but she's been freshened up at home since and we hope to see her finish off her race a bit better this time.

Charlie Appleby, trainer of Sayyida
She has been a consistent filly and gets this trip well. She produced another solid run at Deauville and a repeat of that effort should put her there or thereabouts.
