The July Cup (4.25) is Newmarket's highlight. Give us your verdict
Chris Cook, senior reporter Christophe Soumillon is going to bag Britain's biggest prize on consecutive Saturdays by the look of it. Perfect Power is the right favourite having turned in a personal best at Royal Ascot. Three-year-olds have a strong record in this, especially since the Commonwealth Cup was created. King Hermes, the Japanese raider, should appreciate the step back in trip and can outrun his odds.
Cieren Fallon, jockey It’s a very good July Cup this year with lots of different aspects to it, but I’m going to go with Naval Crown as I don’t think his win at Royal Ascot was a fluke. He’s just starting to come good over six furlongs. The quick ground won’t be an issue for him and it would be nice to see James Doyle pick up another big one.
James Knight, Coral I think it's a race where the bookmakers could get a result. I'm not totally sold on the level of the Commonwealth Cup yet and the Platinum Jubilee felt like a race you could run six times and get six different winners, so I'm going to chance a couple at bigger prices in Romantic Proposal and Twilight Jet. Both were impressive on their sole starts in Ireland this term and Twilight Jet was clearly wrong at Ascot.
